Allergens Info

Everyone at diandjims is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle to all of our children and we make it our business to ensure that we help the children develop a positive attitude towards food and mealtimes and to encourage them to understand the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle.

As part of our continuing commitment to ensure all health and well being requirements are met, diandjims are currently preparing to meet new food legislation standards. New allergen labelling laws are being introduced to help allergic consumers make safe food choices.

From 13 December 2014, by law, all food businesses will need to provide information about the allergenic ingredients used in the foods they provide. Although people can be allergic to a wide variety of foods and ingredients, there are certain ones which are particularly important when labelling products.

The EU law has listed 14 allergens that need to be identified if they are used as ingredients in a dish. These are:

• Fish
• Cereals containing gluten
• Celery
• Ground nuts
• Lupin
• Milk and dairy products
• Mollusc's
• Mustard
• Nuts and peanuts
• Sesame Seed
• Crustaceans (Shellfish)
• Sulphur Dioxide
• Soya

The new legislation states that food providers must have evidence of what goes in each dish prepared on the premises. Also, as a parent/carer you have a responsibility to inform the food provider that your child has an allergy or intolerance and what it is.

Allergen content charts are displayed in our kitchen/dining area for your information.
